Testimonial videos that close the deal.

Real customers, interviewed, never scripted. We book them, direct the remote interview live, and cut every film from that one conversation. Your part is the introduction, whether it is one story or thirty.

The work.

Beverage distributors on the software that runs their day, a security research team on why its work matters, school parents, and alumni on what changed. A testimonial works when the person is comfortable and the questions are good.

  • Key light from the window side, the room kept in the frame.
  • Eye line just off the lens. A conversation, not a read.
  • Name and title on screen. Logo close.

Remote interviews, directed live.

Most interviews we make now are remote, and the remote interview is included in the rate. We book your customer, get on the call early, and direct the setup before we roll: where the camera sits, where the light comes from, what is behind them, which mic is on.

The recording is made on their own machine with a tool built for it, not a meeting app, so a shaky connection never touches the picture. When their built-in mic will not do, we mail one.

A crew day still makes the richer film, and one trip can cover two or three customers in a region. We quote that per shoot day after one call. For a program of ten or thirty stories, remote is how it gets done.

What we direct before we roll

Camera
Height, distance and the eye line, just off the lens.
Light
The brightest source in front of them, the room kept in frame.
Background
Depth behind them, nothing that reads as a logo or a mess.
Sound
The right mic on, the room quiet, levels checked before the first question.

Most orders grow on the second round. Once the interviews are in we read every transcript and come back with the stories we found: one per customer, then themes across several, then one per product, usually more videos than there were people.

How it works.

The pre-call
One call with you to pick the customers and the point each story has to make. One short call with each customer so the interview is a conversation they are ready for.
The interview
Remote, directed live. Or a crew day at their site when the film needs the place in it. Appearance releases for every person on camera, a location release for the site, cleared before we roll.
The menu from the footage
We read every transcript and come back with the stories we found, priced per line from the rate above. You pick.
The edit
Paper edit, edit, lower thirds, music, color, captions and sound. Three revision rounds. The first cut usually lands within two weeks of receiving your footage.

Questions.

How much does a testimonial video cost?

Our rate is $27 per finished second of film, $23 when one order has ten or more videos, and the remote interview is included. So a 45-second testimonial is $1,215, a 90-second customer story is $2,430, and the full set from one interview is $4,005. Everything in the edit is inside that number: transcription, the paper edit, the cut, lower thirds, music, color, captions, sound and three rounds of changes. B-roll and motion graphics are quoted on top, per video, and a crew day is quoted after one call.

What is the difference between a testimonial, a customer story and a case study video?

Same interview, three lengths. A testimonial is the best 45 seconds, with the customer's name and title on screen. A customer story runs about 90 seconds and keeps the whole arc: what was wrong, why they switched, what changed. A case study video is the customer story with the numbers on screen, stated by the customer, not by us.

How do you get customers to say something useful on camera?

By not handing them a script. There is a short call before the interview so nothing is a surprise, then good questions and a real conversation. Around the four-minute mark people stop performing for the camera, and that is where the lines you will quote come from. All we need from you is the introduction.

Can you film customers remotely?

Yes, and the remote interview is included in the rate. We book your customer, join early, and set the shot with them live: camera height, the light, what is behind them, which microphone. The recording runs on their own computer through a tool built for recording, not a meeting app, so the connection quality never touches the picture. If their built-in mic is not good enough, one arrives in the post. A crew day is still the richer film, and one trip can cover several customers in a region.

What are the legal guidelines for a testimonial video?

Two documents and one principle. Every person on camera signs an appearance release and any filmed location signs a location release, both cleared before we roll, and we bring them. The principle is that a testimonial is the customer's honest opinion in their own words, which is why we never script, and any material relationship between you and the customer should be disclosed. For claims about typical results, your counsel has the final say; we keep the footage and the transcript so the record is there if anyone asks.

Can you cut testimonials from interviews we already filmed?

Yes. Send the masters, and the transcripts if you have them, and we cut at the same $27 per finished second. The first cut usually lands within two weeks of the footage arriving.

Where are you?

Teams in Colorado and Florida, and crews where your customers are, across North America, Europe, Africa and Asia. Most interviews are remote, so where you are rarely matters. Testimonial Studios is a Moonshine Media Group company, the studio behind the Webby-winning film She Creates Change.
